I GET IT. Greek Life isn’t for everyone. And that’s 100% totally and completely fine. That’s good, even. If it was for everyone, we couldn’t possibly have enough resources to give everyone this wonderful experience that I’ve had. But please, please, please, when I tell you that I am in a sorority, do not tell me that you hate sororities. Or that Greek life is dumb. Or ask me why I am in one, with a look of disgust on your face because of some show you saw on TLC or ABC Family. My sorority experience is not what you think, I can promise you that. I didn’t join my sorority to meet boys or get drunk or have friends. In fact, when you tell me that I am just paying for my friends, I will respond with that I sure as hell am not paying enough for them. I joined my sorority for sisterhood, but I stayed for so much more. I stayed because of Ritual. I stayed because my sorority is almost 113 years old and has left a legacy of excellence. So many doors have been opened up to me because of Greek Life. There is a standard that I have to live up to as a sorority woman and that standard makes me a better human being. It makes me a better daughter, girlfriend, employee, friend, sister to both my brother and my sorority sisters, student, niece, future therapist, and current leader on my campus. I have gained skills that could not have been gained in just any campus club. I have had my patience tested, as well as my moral and ethical code. Never once have I been pressured to drink, forced to do something I didn’t want to do, or force someone else to do something they didn’t want to do. Through out the last 3 years of being a sister of my sorority, I have grown in ways I can’t even begin to describe to you. I have found who I am and who I want to be, and I have the skills and abilities to achieve anything I want to achieve. I am proud of who I am, but I know that I have far to go to become the woman I want to be. I hold the values of my founders close to my heart and I strive to make them proud every single day, with my words and my actions.
If Greek Life isn’t for you, that’s okay. Just don’t judge me, my sisters, or sororities and fraternities as a whole based on flawed impressions. Give us a chance to show you who we really are.

Listen to my baby  :)  She’s all grown up and defending Greek Life.
